About Strynø

In the archipelago of southern Funen between Tåsinge, Langeland and Ærø you will find Strynø. A small island of 494 hectares. 3 km long and 2 km wide.

Today approx. 200 people live on the island, but up to 800 people have lived on this small spot at the same time, and Strynø has been the most densely populated island in Denmark next to Amager.

To get to Strynø you have to sail for approx. ½ hour from Rudkøbing. The sail is with the ferry Strynboen.

To get to Strynø you have to sail for approx. ½ hour from Rudkøbing. The sail is with the ferry Strynboen. The machinery starts, and soon you feel the sea air on your skin, the water gurgles and Strynø comes closer and closer. The ferry berth and the harbour become clearer. Arrival at the bridge Grevebroen and up the road Strynø Brovej, that ends at the square around the Maypole

On Strynø the tradition hoisting the Maypole is uphold, like we also boil eggs on the beach on Maundy Thursday. Well, we got diversed.

You are now on the middle of the island in Skipperbyen with it's varied mosaic of houses, gardens and alleys
