Handicap-friendly
Most of us have probably tried it, whether it is yourself, a member of the family or a friend, who is sitting in a wheel chair, and it is not possible to get in. The door is too narrow, there are doorsteps, too little room. At Strynø Gl. Mejeri we have taken the needs of the wheel chair users into consideration, it is important to us that everybody has the possibility to experience the atmosphere of Strynø Gl. Mejeri and the feeling of being on a small island in the archipelago of southern Funen
The arrangement of the house:
Entrance/Livingroom: The entrance way is even, with a manoeuvre area of min 150cm x 150cm at the same level as the floor and manoeuvre area in the livingroom.
Toilet/Bath: The lavatory is min 48cm high and there are arm supports. On one side of the lavatory there is a free space of 100cm as well as in front of the lavatory. The shower area is open and there is a large manoeuvre area in the bathroom.

Bedroom: The doorway to the bedroom is min. 77cm, there are 2 bedrooms with a manoeuvre area of min. 150cm and free space next to the bed of min. 90cm, sittingheight of the bed is min. 48cm.
The surroundings:
There are flagstones around the entire Strynø Gl. Mejeri.
As Strynø is a flat island, and practically all the roads are asphalted, it is easy to get around on the island in a wheel chair and a lot of places it is possible to have access directly to the water.
Yachting:
During the summer 2002 we should be ready with a project concerning yachting for wheel chair users where you can drive directly on board the ship. As the ship can sail on shallow water it will be possible to visit uninhabited islets in the area.
